General Terms and Conditions
Participation and Publication · Mujeres en Business
Version 1.0 · Effective as of September 17, 2026
These General Terms and Conditions establish the general rules applicable to participation in the different editions of the Mujeres en Business publishing project.
Our purpose is to ensure that each AUTHOR clearly understands the general operation of the project, the rights she retains over her story, the authorizations necessary to make its publication and promotion possible, and the responsibilities of the parties involved.
These General Terms and Conditions form part of the specific participation agreement entered into by each AUTHOR for the applicable Edition.
In the event of any conflict between these General Terms and Conditions and the contract or Specific Agreement for an Edition, the terms of the Specific Agreement shall prevail with respect to that Edition.
1. Definitions
For purposes of these General Terms and Conditions:
MUJERES EN BUSINESS or the PROJECT means the publishing project created and directed by Lic. Isabel Flores, under which different editions of collective works featuring the stories of businesswomen and professional women are developed.
PROJECT DIRECTOR means Lic. Isabel Flores, creator, owner and director of Mujeres en Business.
EDITOR means HispanoUSA, which is responsible for the editorial and technical services related to the preparation, layout, production and publication of the works.
AUTHOR means any participant whose story has been accepted for inclusion in an Edition of Mujeres en Business.
EDITION means each specific publication produced within the Mujeres en Business project and identified by its location, volume, year or other applicable designation.
SPECIFIC AGREEMENT means the participation agreement or contract signed by the AUTHOR for a particular Edition.
2. Nature of the Project
Mujeres en Business is a collective publishing project in which each AUTHOR contributes her own story, while the PROJECT DIRECTOR and the EDITOR coordinate the editorial, organizational, technical and publishing aspects necessary to create the work.
The specific characteristics of each Edition, including its title, formats, participation fee, included copies, dates, services and other commercial conditions, shall be established in the applicable Specific Agreement.
Participation in Mujeres en Business does not create a partnership, employment relationship, business association, agency, franchise, legal representation, joint venture or relationship of subordination among the AUTHOR, the PROJECT DIRECTOR and the EDITOR.
Each party shall retain its legal, professional, administrative and financial independence.
3. AUTHOR Participation
Each AUTHOR shall be responsible for preparing and providing her story, biography, photographs, professional information and any other materials requested for the Edition in which she participates.
The specifications and length of those materials, as well as the applicable deadlines, shall be communicated in the Specific Agreement or during the editorial process.
The PROJECT DIRECTOR and the EDITOR may establish reasonable editorial guidelines for the purpose of maintaining consistency, quality and uniformity within each Edition.
When necessary for design, space, printing, format or technical requirements, reasonable adjustments may be made to submitted materials while making every effort to preserve the meaning and substance of the AUTHOR'S contribution.
4. Originality and Authenticity of Stories
One of the fundamental principles of Mujeres en Business is that each story authentically represents the experience of its AUTHOR.
The AUTHOR confirms that the content she provides will be original, authentic and created by her, or that she will have the necessary authorizations to use any materials belonging to third parties.
The AUTHOR shall be responsible for the truthfulness of the experiences, personal statements, business information, biographical information and other content she provides.
The AUTHOR shall also make reasonable efforts to ensure that her story respects the privacy, reputation and rights of others.
5. Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence tools may be used as support for tasks such as proofreading, grammar, style, organization or similar technical corrections.
However, the experiences, anecdotes, testimonials, quotations and substantive elements of the story must come from the AUTHOR and reflect her actual experience.
The AUTHOR shall at all times remain responsible for the authenticity, originality, accuracy and legality of the content she provides.
6. Third-Party Materials and Rights
When the AUTHOR provides photographs, logos, trademarks, names, testimonials, texts, images, or other materials belonging to third parties, she must have the corresponding permissions or authorizations.
The AUTHOR agrees to promptly inform the PROJECT DIRECTOR or the EDITOR if she becomes aware of any error, claim, or circumstance that could legally affect the publication of the materials provided.
Indemnification. The AUTHOR agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the PROJECT DIRECTOR, the EDITOR, and their respective collaborators from and against any claim, lawsuit, loss, damage, liability, or legal expense, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising directly from any actual or alleged violation related to the originality, authorship, or legality of the material provided by the AUTHOR, or from any infringement of third-party rights attributable to such material.
7. Rights of the AUTHOR
The AUTHOR retains ownership of the rights legally belonging to her in her individual story.
Participation in Mujeres en Business does not constitute a complete assignment of her story and does not prevent her from later using her own experiences, ideas, facts or content in other publications, presentations, interviews or projects.
The AUTHOR must, however, respect the elements belonging to the collective work and to Mujeres en Business, including editorial design, visual identity, cover design, layout and other materials belonging to the PROJECT or the EDITOR.
8. License to Publish and Promote the Story
To make the preparation, publication, distribution and promotion of each Edition possible, the AUTHOR grants the PROJECT DIRECTOR and the EDITOR a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to her contribution.
Within the context of Mujeres en Business, this authorization permits them to:
  • edit and correct the material;
  • technically adapt it for inclusion in the work;
  • reproduce and print it;
  • publish and distribute the Edition;
  • produce reprints;
  • retain and back up files related to the publication;
  • use reasonable excerpts or portions for promotional purposes;
  • include the story and related materials in the formats contemplated for the applicable Edition;
  • use the content in materials, websites, social media, press releases and promotional activities related to the PROJECT.
The license shall remain effective with respect to versions of the work that have already been published, produced or distributed.
The AUTHOR retains all rights not expressly granted under these Terms and her Specific Agreement.
9. Collective Work and Published Versions
The AUTHOR acknowledges that her story forms part of a collective work consisting of contributions from multiple participants.
Once an Edition has been produced, published, distributed or made available to the public, removing an individual contribution may affect the integrity of the work and, in some cases, may be technically or commercially impractical.
Accordingly, unless otherwise required by law, an AUTHOR'S subsequent withdrawal from the project shall not automatically require the removal of copies already produced, versions already published, promotional materials already distributed or editorial files previously prepared.
10. Ownership and Identity of Mujeres en Business
Mujeres en Business is a project created and directed by Lic. Isabel Flores.
The name, identity, general concept and proprietary materials of the project shall remain under the ownership of the PROJECT DIRECTOR.
An AUTHOR'S participation in an Edition does not grant her ownership or co-ownership of Mujeres en Business, nor any independent right to use its name or identity as her own.
AUTHORS may, of course, identify and promote their participation in the applicable Edition.
Any other use of the Mujeres en Business name or identity shall require appropriate authorization.
11. Editorial Files and Production Materials
Master files, editable files, templates, layouts, compositions, print files, graphic elements and other materials used or created specifically by the EDITOR to produce an Edition form part of the editorial process and are not included with the physical copies delivered to AUTHORS.
Such materials shall remain the property of the EDITOR and/or the PROJECT DIRECTOR, as applicable.
Delivery of physical books does not include delivery of source, editable or production files.
12. Vendors, Platforms and External Services
In developing the different Editions, the PROJECT DIRECTOR and the EDITOR may work with printers, designers, proofreaders, distributors, technology providers, printing platforms, distribution services and other third parties.
Certain aspects of the project, including production times, availability, formats, printing costs and distribution conditions, may depend on such providers.
When necessary, the EDITOR may replace vendors or platforms while making reasonable efforts to maintain the continuity and quality of the publication.
13. Pricing, Printing and Commercial Conditions
Printing prices, production costs, available formats, distribution conditions and other commercial elements may change over time and may depend on external providers.
When an Edition allows AUTHORS to purchase additional copies under special conditions, the applicable prices and requirements shall be communicated in a timely manner.
The specific conditions of each Edition, including included copies, estimated costs, minimum orders, suggested retail prices and any other specific benefits, shall be established in the applicable Specific Agreement.
14. Sales and Royalties for Collective Works
Mujeres en Business operates as a collective publishing project and not as an individual publishing agreement for each AUTHOR.
Unless a Specific Agreement expressly provides otherwise, general sales of the collective work made through distribution platforms do not generate individual royalties for each AUTHOR.
When AUTHORS are permitted to purchase copies at a special price and sell them directly, they shall retain the profits generated from their own personal sales in accordance with the conditions applicable to the Edition.
15. Review and Approval of Materials
Before publication, the AUTHOR shall have an opportunity to review and approve her story in accordance with the process established for each Edition.
Final approval confirms that the version presented substantially corresponds to the material the AUTHOR wishes to include in the work.
If the AUTHOR subsequently identifies an error, she must communicate it as soon as possible.
When an error results from information originally provided by the AUTHOR or from content she had a reasonable opportunity to review and approve, the PROJECT DIRECTOR and the EDITOR shall not be responsible for that error.
When reasonably feasible, efforts will be made to correct the error in future printings or versions.
16. Promotion, Name and Image
As part of her participation, the AUTHOR authorizes the PROJECT DIRECTOR and the EDITOR to use the following in connection with Mujeres en Business:
  • her professional name;
  • approved photograph;
  • biography;
  • business name;
  • authorized logo;
  • website;
  • social media accounts;
  • professional information;
  • reasonable excerpts from her story;
  • other promotional materials she has provided or approved.
These materials may be used on the project's general website, www.mujersinbiz.com, on social media, in press releases, blogs, promotional materials, presentations and other media related to Mujeres en Business.
Promotion will primarily be collective, although individual AUTHORS may be highlighted when appropriate.
17. Scope of Promotional Activities
The PROJECT DIRECTOR may conduct promotional activities to provide visibility to Mujeres en Business and its participants. Any promotional activities expressly included in a Specific Agreement shall be carried out in accordance with that Agreement.
The response of readers, media outlets, purchasers, platforms, social networks and other third parties is outside the control of the PROJECT DIRECTOR.
Accordingly, neither the promotional activities included in a Specific Agreement nor any additional promotional efforts constitute a guarantee of:
  • sales;
  • income;
  • interviews;
  • media coverage;
  • followers;
  • clients;
  • contracts;
  • invitations;
  • awards;
  • rankings;
  • event attendance;
  • professional or commercial opportunities;
  • or any other specific result.
The purpose of promotional activities is to provide visibility to the Edition and its participants, without guaranteeing any particular outcome.
18. Events and Presentations
AUTHORS participating in an Edition may choose to organize presentations, launches, book signings, receptions or other activities related to the work.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, such events are optional and are not part of the editorial services included in the participation fee.
The organization, contracting, payments, permits, venues, vendors, travel, promotion and other responsibilities shall be assumed by the AUTHORS who choose to organize or participate in such events.
The PROJECT DIRECTOR may provide guidance, recommendations and ideas based on her experience.
Such guidance does not mean that the PROJECT DIRECTOR or the EDITOR automatically assumes responsibility for organizing, financing or managing the event.
Additional event organization, promotion, design, printing or logistics services may be contracted separately when available.
19. Deadlines and Collaboration
The development of a collective work requires coordination among all participants.
AUTHORS shall make reasonable efforts to meet the established deadlines for stories, photographs, biographies, reviews, approvals and other materials.
If a circumstance arises that makes it difficult to meet a deadline, the AUTHOR is encouraged to communicate it promptly so that a reasonable solution may be considered.
When significant delays may affect the overall schedule of an Edition, the PROJECT DIRECTOR and the EDITOR may make such reasonable adjustments as may be necessary.
20. Withdrawal of an AUTHOR
The AUTHOR may withdraw from an Edition in accordance with the conditions established in her Specific Agreement.
The financial consequences of withdrawal, including refunds or outstanding payments, shall be governed by that Agreement.
Withdrawal shall not affect rights validly granted with respect to materials already incorporated, produced, published, distributed or used in connection with the applicable Edition.
The PROJECT DIRECTOR and the EDITOR may retain copies of files, communications, approvals and materials relating to the AUTHOR'S participation for administrative, editorial, accounting, archival and rights-protection purposes.
21. Termination of Participation
In exceptional circumstances, an AUTHOR'S participation may be terminated when it becomes reasonably impossible to continue the process.
Such circumstances may include, among others:
  • significant and repeated breaches;
  • failure to make payments as required by the Specific Agreement;
  • plagiarism;
  • unlawful materials;
  • violations of third-party rights;
  • materially false information;
  • lack of cooperation that makes continuation of the process impractical.
Whenever reasonably possible, the situation will first be communicated and an opportunity to resolve it will be provided.
The financial consequences of termination shall be governed by the applicable Specific Agreement.
22. Requested Changes and Additional Services
Requests outside the normal scope of the Edition, including full drafting services, extraordinary corrections, changes requested after previously approved stages, additional design, production, promotion or consulting services, may result in additional charges.
When applicable, such charges shall be communicated and must be approved before the service is performed.
23. Extraordinary Circumstances and Force Majeure
No party shall be responsible for delays caused by circumstances reasonably beyond its control, including natural disasters, emergencies, widespread service failures, government restrictions, significant disruptions involving vendors or platforms, labor disputes, serious illness or other force majeure events.
In such cases, reasonable efforts will be made to maintain timely communication and to adjust the project schedule as appropriate.
24. Communications and Records
Communications regarding submissions, reviews, approvals, payments, schedule changes, modifications or withdrawal may be made by email or another written communication method customarily used by the parties.
The PROJECT DIRECTOR and the EDITOR may retain communications, approvals, files and materials relating to each participation for administrative, editorial, accounting, historical and rights-protection purposes.
25. Terms Applicable to Each AUTHOR
The version of these General Terms and Conditions applicable to each AUTHOR shall be the version identified in her Specific Agreement at the time of signing.
The subsequent publication of a new version of these General Terms and Conditions shall not automatically modify the terms previously accepted by an AUTHOR, unless the modification is accepted in writing when required.
New versions may apply to future participants or future Editions.
For reference purposes, Mujeres en Business may retain historical copies of the different versions of these General Terms and Conditions.
26. Amendments and Precedence of the Specific Agreement
These Terms establish the general rules of the Mujeres en Business project.
Each Edition may establish specific conditions through its applicable Specific Agreement.
In the event of any conflict between these Terms and a Specific Agreement signed by the AUTHOR, the Specific Agreement shall prevail with respect to that Edition and that AUTHOR.
No informal conversation, social media post, oral statement or other communication shall by itself modify the terms agreed to in writing.
27. Governing Law
These Terms and the Specific Agreements related to Mujeres en Business shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, unless a Specific Agreement validly provides otherwise.
28. Acceptance
An AUTHOR'S participation shall be subject both to the applicable Specific Agreement and to the version of these General Terms and Conditions expressly incorporated into that Agreement.
Signing the Specific Agreement shall also constitute acceptance of these General Terms and Conditions when they have been identified and incorporated by reference into that document.
